THANK YOU
While results are still coming in, it is clear that unfortunately, I will be coming up short this time. It is hard to convey in a few words how immensely grateful I am to everyone who gave their time, treasure and support in this campaign. I remain extremely proud of the race we ran and thankful for the joy of the campaign trail. As I said from the beginning: I believe in democracy. Democracy isn't all about election results. The work of democracy is in having meaningful conversations with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers & fellows.
From the young man I met at the Easton farmer's market who said "it was because of candidates like [me] that I split my ballot this year", to those in Tilghman on election day who said they had never imagined voting for Democrats before and yet they just had it is clear, the good news is a vibrant democracy is alive and well in Talbot County!! I want to offer my gratitude to fellow council candidates who ran such important, positive, issue-driven, educated campaigns -- & to everyone who joined us, who believed & supported us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this journey. I often heard, "Michele, you are everywhere!!" It is because of YOU -- the people I met along the way -- that I remain committed to being "everywhere" in service to our beloved home. You may have noticed the name is "Dappert for Talbot." I will be keeping the site, to announce TBD plans on where I will be working #ForTalbot next. We have serious work to do & conversations to continue to have.
I make you this promise: I'm not going anywhere.
Love, Michele.
